R.K. McMillan Headland Shoreline Improvements

The City of Mississauga has hired R&M Construction, specialists in shoreline protection works, to conduct repairs to, and protection works at two areas in R.K. McMillan Headland.  The project work areas are (1) the beach area beside the picnic pavilion, and (2) the stone wall at the south-west end of the headland on Lake Ontario.

The duration of the work at each site is approximately two weeks, however poor weather and lake conditions may cause interruptions and delay completion.  The beach work (area 1) has commenced as of November 24, 2011.  Headland stone wall works (area 2) will commence when the ground has frozen.  Intermittent pathway closures will occur in the vicinity of the work to ensure the safety of both the public and the contractor.

While the contractor is working, the R.K. McMillan Headland parking area at Lakeside Avenue and Hampton Crescent will be closed and park users directed to park their vehicles at Lakefront Promenade/A.E. Crookes Park to the east.  Pathways not affected by the construction work will remain open.

When using the parkland and trails at R.K. McMillan Headland, please be aware of your surroundings and contractor vehicles.  Pathway detours may be necessary and closures will be marked.

Residents are thanked for their understanding and for making safety a priority while enjoying R.K. McMillan Headland.
