Q. I am building a deck; do I need a building permit?

A. Yes, before proceeding with any construction project, please contact the City’s Zoning Plans Examination Section at (905) 896-5581.

 

Q. How do I dispose of old appliances or furniture?

A. Old appliances and furnishings can be disposed of by contacting the Region of Peel at (905) 791-9499.

 

Q. At times I find that my neighbours make excessive noise with their car stereos, is there anything that I can do to solve this problem?

A. Yes, there is. The City of Mississauga Noise Control By-law No. 360-79 prohibits the playing of loud music or amplified sound between 5 p.m. and 7 a.m. (9 a.m. on Sundays)

 

Q. There is water sitting in my yard, what should I do to solve this problem?

A. Unfortunately, city staff can not work on private land; however, city staff frequently visit sites and can offer advice as to how you can solve your grading and drainage problems.

 

Q. My neighbour has stagnant water in their property; I have concerns of health issues such as West Nile Virus.

A. For West Nile Virus concerns, please contact the Region of Peel or phone (905) 799-7700.

 

Q. A City tree is causing damage to my property. Who do I contact about this issue?

A. Contact the City forestry department to have the tree inspected or removed.

 

Q. Do I need a permit to widen my driveway?

A. The City of Mississauga has restrictions regarding the width of driveways. These restrictions differ throughout the city. Before widening your driveway, please confer with the City’s Zoning Plans Examination Centre at (905) 896-5581.

 

Q. I need to park my vehicle on the street overnight, is this permitted?

A. No, the City has a 3 hour time limit on all city roads unless posted otherwise. If you need to request special permission for visitors, please call (905) 896-5678.
